I had been meaning to try Amiya's upscale Indian cuisine for years, even when they were in their previous location a few blocks away. The new spot was much smaller from what I could tell, but was still very nicely adorned. We happened to be in the area the other night and stopped in to grab a last minute dinner. From the moment we arrived until the second we left, we found the service very polite and friendly. Our party of 3 decided to order a few items to share. We started with the Chicken 65 and the Samosas. The poultry dish included tender chicken that had been deep-fried to a glorious crunch and marinated in a spice blend made of curry leaves and green chilies. While this was a common appetizer, it was my first time trying it, and I was pleasantly surprised. The potato and pea samosas, however, were very dry on the inside and bland on the outside. In fact, they did not seem freshly made at all. Continuing with the experience, we also divided up some entrees and breads. The Murgh Ke Seekh from the tandoori section of the menu had been described as "ginger flavored chicken seekh kebabs", and I had not realized that they would be minced chicken rather than pieces. Though I was initially disappointed to discover this, I was blown away by how delicious the soft, flaky ground chicken logs really were. Each piece packed a great amount of seasoned flavor. The Butter Chicken included tender chunks of chicken in a rich and creamy makhni gravy. Our third main dish was the Bombay Aloo, which included chunks of potato, seasoned with whole spices. The hearty, tomato-based sauce was heavenly! Our meals were accompanied by a large bowl of rice for the table, which was very good, but quickly devoured. Lastly, we kept our bread selection easy by ordering their pre-established basket, which included plain naan, laccha (layered) paratha, and garlic naan. While I did not try the general naan, I found the paratha rustic and seemingly from fresh ground wheat, and the garlic naan to have the perfect amounts of both oil and garlic. Except for the mediocre samosas, we all really enjoyed Amiya and would definitely return.

Amiya is our go-to Sunday takeout spot. The food is delicious, and the staff are courteous. We have also eaten in and have enjoyed a great meal. So tasty!

I am surprised I did not review the space sooner. I've had it multiple times really holds the standard of good Indian food to me. Food: as I'm writing this review, I may have had it about five or six times but I will review the last time. I had it over this past weekend, my friend ordered some Manchurian vegetable balls, chili paneer, garlic naan, and another dish which I'm unfortunately forgetting right now. Everything was very good come but it was not as spicy as expected, however, I do think he ordered the mild. Aesthetic: N/A Service: N/A

I rarely go for a sit-down lately (will probably start when their buffet restarts). Having said that, this is my go to place for Indian orders (especially Indo-Chinese), after naan-king closed - Amiya has one of the best Indo-Chinese food. Their cocktails are good too. This place is value for money. Their delivery service is also one of the quickest in the neighborhood!
